The Second Amendment Exists for a Very Good Reason – Why?

Following the War of Independence against the arbitrary and unjust policies of England’s King George III, the USA needed a new legal framework. All American citizens had learned to distrust oppressive taxes imposed by the legal British government.

The framers of the US Constitution created the Bill of Rights, which was designed to ensure that every state and all their people would remain forever free from oppressive governments. To ensure that both citizens as well as the country could defend that freedom, they specified that the right to keep and bear arms by responsible citizens should NOT be curtailed.

Citizens need the same firepower as government agencies to protect themselves. Without the same weapons, how can you protect yourself against an oppressive government?

Yet President Obama wants to ban AR-15s at the same time as the Department of Homeland Security is purchasing the same weapons and 30 bullet magazines as “personal defense weapons… suitable for personal defense use in close quarters.”

The Second Amendment

As ratified by the States and authenticated by Founding Father and third US President Thomas Jefferson, the Second Amendment says:

“A well regulated Militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.”

What is the Militia?

But what is the Militia? George Mason IV, statesman and Virginia delegate to the US Constitutional Convention, unequivocally explained:

“[W]hat is the militia? It is the whole people, except for a few public officials.”

So there’s no mistaking the original intent: The right of all the people to firearms, except for public officials, shall not be infringed.

John F Kennedy upheld this right

But is the freedom to bear arms obsolete? By no means.

Democratic President John F. Kennedy, also emphasized the need for US citizens to keep their freedom by bearing arms:

“Today, we need… citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom.”

What did President Kennedy mean?

Democratic President Obama seems not to understand his fellow Democratic President John F Kennedy’s meaning. So let’s get clarity on the meaning of “shall not be infringed.”

Fortunately, the meaning of this phrase was also clarified by the Founding Fathers. Samuel Adams, cousin to President John Adams, proclaimed:

The “Constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the press or the rights of conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms.”

What’s to misunderstand? It’s all pretty clear. Neither Congress nor the President can prevent peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms. You have both a right and a duty to protect you and your family with firearms.

Do Today’s Democrats support the Constitution?

Democratic President John F Kennedy clearly understood and supported the constitution. So what of President Obama and Senator Feinstein’s attempts to ban around 150 types of guns and assault weapons. What’s to misunderstand in the meaning of “the right to bear arms shall not be infringed?”

Yet Senator Dianne Feinstein’s (D-CA) specifies in the preamble to her 2013 gun control bill:

“the right to keep and bear arms is not unlimited.”

Which directly contradicts the US Constitution she has sworn under oath to uphold.

What’s the Problem?

Gun control advocates pretend that their gun-control measures are to stop yet more massacres. Along with Nazi Dictator Adolf Hitler, they hope a majority of the people don’t understand the reason so many were killed: There was nobody onsite with a gun to defend themselves and the slaughtered children.

Despite their fine words, gun control bans do not protect the innocent. If that was their concern, wouldn’t they advocate policies already proven effective? It’s not gun control that was lacking, the problem is the lack of guns in the hands of the responsible.

Guns deter Crime

According to a study into the value of guns in deterring crime by Dr. Gary Kleck, a Florida State University criminologist:

“America’s liberal gun laws are often criticized as a contributor to the U.S.’s relatively high rates of violent crime.” But Kleck studied crime rates from Great Britain and the Netherlands – two nations with much stricter gun ownership laws than the U.S. – and concluded that the risk of armed robbery is lower in America because of loose gun laws.

Kleck concluded that there would be an “additional 450,000 burglaries in the U.S. in which homeowners are threatened or attacked if the rate of hot burglaries in the U.S. was similar to the rate in Great Britain. “The lower rate in the U.S. is attributed to widespread gun ownership.”

As Larry Correia, Utah Concealed Weapons instructor, military and law enforcement master trainer, competition shooter, expert witness for the Utah State Legislature, Title 7 SOT gun store owner, elite firearms expert explains:

“Over the last fifty years, with only one single exception [the assassination attempt on former US Representative Gabby Giffords], every single mass shooting event with more than four casualties has taken place in a place where guns were supposedly not allowed.”

Your Right to Protect Yourself

The owners of the Aurora, Colorado cinema chain, Senator Feinstein, President Obama and other gun-control fanatics don’t want responsible citizens to be able to protect themselves. They ignore the obvious truth: Criminals and deranged individuals do not obey the law. Would more stringent gun bans work as well as the prohibition era laws banning alcohol, or the current laws banning drugs?

So what is the real problem? As all the evidence shows very clearly, there’s no power in the Constitution for anyone to institute any control on guns owned by peaceable citizens. Could the real goal be people control rather than gun control?

Food for Thought

“This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilized nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future.”

– Adolph Hitler, notorious Nazi Germany dictator who disarmed the population, instigated World War II and caused the deaths of millions. Nazi stands for NAtional soZIalistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, the German National Socialist Workers’ Party.
